now as i await my last two phr diodes. i burned the first two i want to bverify some things so i do not repeat the same problems... how long can the diode really take the soldering iron, because i find it difficult to solder on the diode for very short periods of time.. any tips on soldering this small will help..
basically it.. how long can you hold the gun on the diode? because i feel its way too sensitive, which i know it might be.
thanks.

DO NOT use a soldering gun. Use a low-powered iron, 25W is ideal.

Also make sure you get the tip of your soldering iron looking real good before you use it to solder a diode. Give it a nice bronze.

I've bought one diode.  Ever!  I borrowed a soldering iron from a coworker, and some solder, and when I bought it home and compared it to the pins on the diode (yours do have the pins on them, right?) I knew there was no way I could use it because the end was huge.  I went to Radio Shack and spent $12 on a 15w fine tip iron and the thinnest solder they had.  I read a thread somewhere here that had the tip "get a small ball of solder on the tip of your iron and use that to make the connection"  That was the single best thing I found when trying to learn to solder.  Don't keep the solder wire near your diode, just push it lightly onto the tip of your iron until it melts onto the iron, and then touch the melted ball to the diode pin and wire - it takes like half a second to harden.  Then again, I'm a newbie and that is the only diode I've ever soldered.  Though, it is still running strong ;-)  If you're really having bad luck with soldering, practice soldering small wires together.

My .02, hope it helps
