Hey,
I've got a problem. I've bought a 150mw 405nm Diode. But it runs on 4.5V... that means i need over 6V input for a LM317 driver.
i want to get it inide of a Flashlight but HOW?! I dont want to buy expansive 3.7V AAAs =(. Is there a Booster or something like this out there of course i want to build it myself - i can solder SMD.
Could you help me out please?

PS:
Sry for my bad english ...

You should have known what it needed BEFORE you bought it. Your diode actually NEEDS at least 5V to operate efficiently. If you drive it much over 100mW it will need even more voltage. Find a way to give it what it needs or suffer poor output.

Peace,
dave

Didnt buy it yet.
But how do people run it off two AAs... with a voltage booster or what? Is there a circuit that could be build in a pretty small casing?

Ok got it.
Ill wait for one of these. With how much time do i have to count on?
These are so damn good man o.o
Can anyone tell me the diameter of the coin the driver is sitting on? Im from germany ^^

Edit:
Shall i confirm a payment before he got them?

Hey John, do you have any of those Lavadrives left ? Also, when you use them, do you always use the flashlights booster circuit in conjunction WITH the LAVADRIVE ? Or do you use the LAVADRIVE by itself. Thanks for the info. rob/phoenix77

Hm
For example a red laser diode needs less voltage than a blu ray diode.
How can they both run from the same output?
I thought you're only able to adjust the current , not the voltage...

The diode will "take" whatever voltage it needs IF it's available. You (with the driver) control the current. You also have to take into consideration what the driver needs AND the driver's maximum capacity for voltage.

dave

Oh man cant wait for this driver ^^
Does anybody know with how much time do i have to count that hes going to sell 'em again?
Or is there anywhere another driver that is just as small as thisone with an adjustable output current?

I built my first BR with an adjustable up to 150ma rckstr driver.  It is so small it fits into the aixiz module and works beautifully.  I've just ordered 3 more 200ma (fixed at that current) drivers for more BR projects.  Rckstr drivers are currently in stock with lots of options on specs.  Check it out: http://rkcstr.googlepages.com/LPF

Yea sry i should have reworded that.
I mean a driver with low input voltage and output current at around 100mA to 150mA.
Is there any cool host that is powered by a 9v block? Cuz im going to drive it with a LM317 thats the safest way you can go.
