Hello LPF!!! I have been reading this forum for quite a while and decided to join; This is my first post! I ordered a bunch of parts recently and will have everything i need within a few days to complete my first 405nm build (except for the heatsink :yabbmad: )

So i ordered a GGW sled which contains both the 405nm diode and a high power red diode, both of which i am going to fit into modules. I also ordered a PHR sled to practice with before i attempted to harvest the $60 ggw sled, and recently found a few kem-400aaa sleds on ebay for $2 so i bought those too for some more practice ;)

I guess my main question is what a safe voltage and current would be for the ggw diodes as well as the phr diode. I have searched through a number of posts and the figures seem to vary greatly. I will be using a flex drive v5 for these builds.

My other stumbling point in the process is the heatsink. i went to a local machine shop to have a heat sink made and he wanted $75.00 an hour with a 1 hour minimum :( I am using two different hosts:

DealExtreme: $14.56 TrustFire TR-801 Cree Q5-WC 230-Lumen LED Flashlight (1*18650)

and this one if ound on ebay:

200Lum CREE P4 Q4 LED Light Flashlight Torch+Holster 8S - eBay (item 160357653429 end time Nov-21-09 05:37:59 PST)

To compound the problem of having unique hosts, i also have a unique module.... i found a reliable supply of brass modules pre-fitted with the 405-g-1 lens but the module size is 10.5mm which is quite a bit smaller than the 12mm aixiz module that everyone seems to use here. So it seems that i may be stuck with obtaining a custom heatsink. Any advice on this?? Thanks in advance!!!

Read the Diodes Compilation thread, you can find it on the right of my signature.

EDIT: Yes, I know data for the GGW isn't there... and the PHR data isn't complete either, but you can see some current values for reference.

EDIT2: You can talk to jayrob or flaminpyro to get the heatsinks done, I'm pretty sure they'll be much cheaper than $75.00.

EDIT3: You should consider getting a commonly used host, it'll lower prices since heatsinks are more readily available for them.

EDIT4: I think Krutz has a tutorial on the TR-801.
