I just completed my first laser today, it is a PHR-803t using a flexdrive set to 95 mA and 3 AA batteries. I couldn't find a very good house for it so this one is only temporary. It can light matches and burn through tape and cd cases very well. I am very happy with my first laser.

Is that an Altoids tin? Nice work! While it may not be much of an issue with a PHR set to a relatively conservative current, a heatsink would be a good idea when you find a more permanent housing.

It is now in an Altoids tin. I still need to buy a switch for it though. I have noticed that it can focus very well within 1-5 feet but after that it cant focus as well.

The finished build in an Altoids tin with a safety switch inside and normal switch outside. Axis module seems to be a good enough heatsink as the diode is only running at 95mA.

I took it to school and my honors physics/AP Chemistry had me do demonstrations in three of her classes.

Your camera handles 405nm so poorly it almost looks like 473nm. This could be good...

The shots of the beam are shining through aquariums. The reflection of the camera on the glass made it looks like it was just in the air.
