A few questions about Violet Lasers

Hi, i'm kind of new to building lasers and such, and i had a few questions that i really wanted to know. First of all, I've just purchased this Blue-Violet Laser from Deal Extreme, not building such a Professional one, just a first try one. Here's the link to it :20mW 405nm Blue-Violet/Royal Purple Laser Module (3V) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

Questions:
1. If i was to build this, would i be able to attach a Positive and Negative wire into this laser module instead of using the spring? If so how can i?
2. What is the maximum amount of volts i can use to power this up, without ruining it?
3. Is there anything else i need to know before building this? (such as requirements etc.)
(I already have Safety Glasses just letting you know)

If anyone could answer these, that'd be great! thanks in advance.

1) Sure you could reroute the + and - leads from the power source, but why not just use the spring? If you dont need it just solder it off & reconnect your + input to the + on the board.

2)This module is made for a pen laser using 2 AAA or AA alkalines so the circuit is made to handle 3V. Pushing anything more will likely burn out the board.

3) Can't answer that one because I dont know what you already know, what are you not sure of?

@danefex, i'm kind of new so i'm not sure how to use the spring :/ if there's a guide or a video that'd be great too! :) oooh so i can't use a 3.7 18650 Battery? Because i'm following this build that requires a 18650 battery to power up the torch (How to make a cheap 1000mW+ Blue Laser Pointer - YouTube) That tutorial.
Well i am new so i don't know as much, maybe the basics and stuff?

1) The spring is the Negative, the module itself is the positive. So if you assembly that in a conductive host (such as a flashlight), the cell positive touches the flashlight tail, giving +Vcc to the module. The cell positive touches the spring, giving it -Vcc and powering it on ;)

2) It seems to use a DC/DC converter, but its a difficult question to answer. I'd not worry giving it 4.2V as its only $6

EDIT: do you have a multimeter? You can slowly turn the input voltage up and measure current... If the current go up with voltage, the driver is crap, so you will need to lower the pot for higher voltages operation.

3) This module fits a pen host, those black, 2xAAA ones.
I do not know other host that fits this kind of module.
You should have gone with Aixiz module + PHR803T diode, that would fit ANY host designed for 12mm modules, such as the Aixiz.
