Then there's that I guess. If you rip it all out you could always put a real laser in there instead of the junk that usually resides there. Can't really call it junk because it's decent or price

Blord made a eBay newish pen into a monster before. I think over 1w maybe more. Everyone asked about duty cycle and it was lpmed over a minute and was still over 1w after 60 sec!!!!!!!

You just reminded me

Is basically random when you order a cheap pen, you can get a either a powerful or weak laser.

There are lots of different pens made in different ways. Some are of course better than others. It's a crap shoot usually unless you run into a seller that has a stock of the good ones. Even then once his supplies are exhausted who knows if his next batch will be good.
Can't expect too much from these.
Moral of the story if you get a few from one seller that are way overspec ,get a heap of them .Ask the seller to send from same batch they usually order at least a hundred at a time. Then you don't even need to bother with pot modding as your eBay pen is way overspec anyway.
This is what I did and they all still work and have been used a lot .

Some of the more trusted Chinese laser sellers on eBay will be laserlands and newgazer.

Bought laser modules from them and they performed quite well.

Laserlands actually LPM their modules, and if you need a module, snipe one for cheap. I got a 80mW 532nm for 10ish dollars.

Although it is a bit unstable and not really compatible (13mm ones), it's cheap.

Just because sometimes people get lasers that are more powerful than advertised doesn't mean you should be entitled to a laser that is stronger than advertised. I hope you didn't leave negative feedback for the seller, he sent you what he advertised, plus an extra pen, from what I understand.

Of course not, his service was obviously excellent so I provided him with the feedback he deserved.
