This is #2 in my line of dual builds and I went straight back to the 3.8mm package 411nm diodes:drool:, as a matter of fact 2 of them. Let me state that the camera does not show how awesome the color is on this unit it really looks a creamy violet to me almost white:p

Great pic of those sugar sweet Newports .05" mounts:san::bowdown::bowdown:

Pretty straight forward I used 2 Groove 2 drivers as I mounted them on some copper pads. I chose the Groove driver, well just because I had so much already going on that I did not want to chance any malice to those honey suckle diodes.:D

The secret here are the mounts:wave: This was way easy to align... NO... way fun to align:p I must have had to do it 20X on this build and it literally took only 2 to 3 minutes each time to get the beamz matched up.

As I finished the build I wrapped it up in an acrylic sleeve with a "end cap" this way it becomes compartmental, this aids in being able to adjust and break down the unit as needed.

The diodes are being driven 1 @550mA the other @556mA and both diodes output was over 850mW for power. Everyone love GITD decals:wave:

After each diode passing though a lens and either a dichro or a cubes there were some substantial loses. I can say the that this thing is a massive burner it is a very dangerous HH it will smoke anything in it's path almost like a laserpen supersharp it burned the crap out of my fingers many times.:cryyy::p
Thats' right 1335mA well over 1W of gorgeous 411nm schweetness

Thank you for looking I hope this build proves to be some eye candy for those who dwell here.:thanks::beer: and if you have any questions just ask. As I always say get out there and build one. Thanks again.-jander6442

You are indeed the Modder Extraordinaire :eg:

Your V2 build looks absolutely stunning Jander  I especially like that you left the guts of it exposed.
Makes you really appreciate the time and knowledge that went into creating such a masterpiece :D

A truly great build jander! :)

Your trademark see through acrylic sleeve really sets these dual diode builds apart from the crowd.
A very professional looking job!

:kewlpics: Nice eye candy indeed! +rep

Where did you get 411nm diodes??? I would love to get some high wavelength purp for a build. I love the beam combining you did, looks super slick! And the Acrylic is exactly what I have been considering for a 400mW 532nm Custom job soon. I want all the processes exposed!

Where did you get 411nm diodes???

Most high power violet tends to be in that range. I've seen violet range from 403-417nm, and I've only measured maybe 5 diodes. The wavelength depends on the diode, the temperature, and the drive current.

Ah, a welcome change from the usual multi 445 builds. Love being able to see a bit of the internals too, really gives this build a unique edge. Can't wait to see what the next build is in your dual-diode lineup :)

Jander....Truly a beautiful build !!!

The use of an Acrylic canopy is exactly to my liking !!

The incorporation of existing, off the shelf micro MM1's for PBC and steering mirror....again.....perfect !!

Another " Combiner " enters the arena !!!

MMMmmmm...First....a trickle....then....a small stream....then....a small creek...THEN.... A RIVER......The " Combiner " class will grow and grow !!!

Great review !!! Thanx for sharing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Combiners"....RULE !!!

I really like the "skylight"!!!
Good to show others the way.
HMike

Oh....No...I'm gonna "Piss lika Puppy".....the " Dragon's Head" build was the first to incorporate a " Skylight "....to show off the beauty of the internal workings....See http://laserpointerforums.com/f50/now-completed-optically-corrected-p73-hh-design-87235.html....

SO....I lay claim to that little ditty....But....I DO think it is a great way to illustrate/Show off the internals !!!!....Mmmmm....Wah, Wah !!!
