Do I have everything I need? (First build hopefully)

Hey everyone, been wanting to try to make a laser for a long time. Finally started buying stuff to try to make one. Here's the parts I have so far...

3100mAh Panasonic 18650 Battery (Hope to use this to power it)

405nm 100-300mw Laser Diode Driver Reverse Protection 0-400ma

12x30mm Aixiz laser module housing blank for 5.6mm LD

Case/Housing/Host for Laser Torch Style Focusable (Ebay laser host)

Goggles (ebay ones but say 405nm so should work)


I still need the actual Diode (I would like one that is 200-300mw 405nm, and not very expensive since its my first and if I fry it don't want to be very costly. Under $30 anyone recommend any?)

I am still confused a little on how it actually goes together. And test load, and how to know how many ma I am using and how many it needs to run strong yet have a decent life span

your on the right track, just need a few more things.

A diode, for your first, go for a 6x blueray diode here: GGW-H20L 6X 405nm sled [GGW] - $29.99 : Cajunlasers Store
set the current to a maximum of 160-170mA This is a sled, you get a red diode in it too!

Thank you for the response really thanks! I bought a multi meter for the heck of it and a few other things today. I had just bought a diode before you posted since no one was posting I went ahead and bought one. Bought it on ebay it is 405nm 300mW laser diode /SF-AW210...Hopefully thats a good one? Also the driver I bought are you sure it will work? It has a spring on it but I dont see how I can put it in a axiz module with a spring on it. I should have everything I need now just not %100 sure how it goes together. Thank you! Any more help would greatly appreciated!!

yeah the SFAW210 is what i was referring to.

i haven't seen any links to the driver so i cant tell you more until you provide it.

Also, you will need to heatsink the module, have you thought about that?

As for heat sink yes I have thought of it but I don't know how to get one to fit the host I bought. If you know of any that will fit that host please link me thanks again you are a huge help!!

Okay thanks, Just bought some Blue Blocking Goggles from cajunlasers!

So how does that host and driver look? Should I buy a different driver? And is there a pre made heatsink for that host that I can buy?
