I just wanted to know if i can solder a bluray diode to my micro driver to see if the diode is still good or do i have a chance of ruining the driver if the diode is bad? Will a bad diode ruin a perfectly good driver?

Normally a bad diode works as a great test load. should be fine for the driver.

If that is a boost driver, you may want to use the diode test feature of your DMM to be sure it isn't an open circuit first.
YES -- Laser diodes which have turned into an LED usually died of COD and the LED portion is still good to go.

Well the driver i have is a rckstr micro driver. I may try it out later this evening. I just looked up some instructions on the rckstr micro driver and when i proceeded to test it with my digital multi meter the diode lit up when i touched the driver. It was dim but it lit up. I am no expert at electronics or anything and i just thought that lasers was interesting. That is why i got into this hobby. Now i dont know about it. Seems these things are really expensive and they can fail at any time without warning. Mine was working great lastnight but this morning it just stopped working. I just got it in the mail yesterday and it only has like 15minutes of use. I have another bluray diode on order and should get it on weds. I will probably fix it and put it in my mxdl host and just sale it.

I just took the diode off the driver and installed it on a new driver and it still is not working so i guess the diode is no good. I did order a new diode just a little bit ago from hightechdealz.com but i reallly feel that they should replace the diode for free. I paid 59$ for there 100mw BR with driver installed in aixiz module and only had it for a day before the diode went bad. I could understand it if i just ordered the parts and tried to build it myself but that i why i spent the extra money so it would be built by someone with a little more experience with soldering these little drivers and diodes. I just hope that when i get the new diode that all is well again. The driver is already set to run a 100mw BR so i will know more later in the week.
