Well I never figured out what kind of diode this was but I went ahead and powered it with about 300 mA. It can burn and light matches! It was my first ever build:yh:

So I have laser goggles on the way...I cant shine it around for to long because I start to feel sick. Is that because of the intensity? Or am I just weird?

I got them from some guy on craigslist 2 bluray players for 25$ It was cheap and I figured out what diode the other one was (it was a ps3 sled...in the bluray player) but cant find anything on the other. Is there any easy way to tell if its a 12x or what?

Well you know the current that the driver was set to when the diode died?
Either too much current, or the diode wasn't as efficient/high powered as you might have thought.

The manual for the driver said it was by default in the low setting 200ma max. On my own driver I was running the diode at 300ma. So I was expecting it to be dim when using the flex drive. It's when I took the diode off the flex drive and back on to my own custom driver it stayed very dim (I didn't make any changes to my driver).

Ok it seems they got my order wrong (or I ordered the wrong drive) its actually micro boost drive v1. Now I get why my driver did not match the picture of the drive in the manual. I cant believe it didn't click the pictures didn't match. If no one has burned their eye out on these forums yet ill probably be the first lol
