Anyone used a DX greenie as a BR host?

Hey Guys,

I started doing a BR build in a flashlight, but I decided I like the traditional Laser Pointer style better, and would work better since I will mainly use it for presentations, etc.

I have a PS3 diode, AixiZ module and a Dr Lava Flexdriver. I saw the Leadlight post, but I'd rather not spend $50 on one just to tear it apart. Has anyone used a DX Greenie as a host? Anyone think it wouldn't work? Thanks!

I've seen people using it as a host, I don't see anything wrong, expect that the top is pretty hard to remove, and spacing will be tight.

yup, it also depends on your particular unit - some people say it's easy to remove and the one i tried needed so much force i squashed the cap and ruined it

IgorT is using a DX pen style as a host in his 803-T BR, but it would not be easy to remove and such - IMO it would be better to use a flashlight or box as a host, the space inside a pen is REALLY tight for a BR build. But it of course depends on how skilled the person who is making it is. ;)

Is totally doable. Theres a few posts on the forum here with pictures of peoples projects. Ive posted mine here.

i agree somewhat on the immovability once the unit is together. But i mean thats kind of the point for me. It works the way it should, i dont see a foreseeable reason why i would want to take it apart (except for maybe the potential of 405nm AR coated lenses for my aixiz). But they way i have them now, the whole module is always removable with great ease. The only hard part is getting the button circuit back out. I have made 3 blu-ray's in pens from DX. they all turned out great. You just have to have the right tools. medical pliers help (my mom was a nurse).
