Do you notice a "dot" that "follows" the beam if you move it fast across a lawn at about 50 feet away?  The illusional dot can also be quite a distance away too. This is with 100+ mW at 405nm.  Does not happen with green. Do it at night of course!

Across a lawn? Are you sure it isn't some luminescence phenomenon? Some plants do that. :p

No because it would do this if held still and extinguished. Matter of fact if it's not moved fast enough it does not appear. When moved at the right speed an imaginary dot will appear and follow the real one like a puppy ghost! I swear I am sober when doing this! ;D

OMG I see it! :D You're right.I can see it on a brick wall too.Yet another weird effect of the elusive 405nm. ;D

almost sounds like mode hopping, except there is only one beam? im assuming you only see one beam and dots of equal or lesser brightness? sounds cool

here's another interesting effect, everytime I check the mail for my parts they're not there! Hmmm.. Amazing
