I am sacrificing TWO, thanks to the generosity of this GREAT forum!!!
And i don't even have a personal 8x yet!!!

I am expecting results in four days, in a week we will have two year's worth of SCIENTIFIC DATA!!!!

The New 12x are comming out VERY soon, Maybe we should get money for that together

Hey guys, my 8x just kida kicked the bucket. I mean it still "lights" but what I'm going to call "fractures" started to appear in the light output.
Is there a best place for me to share my results and components for the betterment of the community ?
I just ordered another diode for a new rebuild with what I hope will be better heatsinking and better (safer) install. Id love to help submit any statistics I can. I don't have access to a Laser power meter, but simple usage hours and such I could mention. And I may be able to provide an 8x diode to IgorT in the next couple weeks.

Do you have a picture of these "fractures"? Have you tried changing the lens? Is the window of the diode OK?

Once the experiment is successful, after all of the needed diodes have been killed, we usually have at least one working laser.

The message was that AFTER we kill some AND we establish the survivable range of current, THEN we have a laser or two to sell.

I trust your wallet was not too badly hurt in this endeavor?

I will have three (or more if members here step up and order) running lasers in the end - yours, Glenns and mine....

But i can't really sell any of them, can i?

See, unlike you, i do not yet have a single 8x laser for some reason... :thinking:

how about a 8x groupbuy now? of course it would make sense to only send the sleds or extracted diodes to igor..

ANYONE who wants an 8x drive or a BUILD BY ME, post your interest there, so we keep it organized!

Diodes or lazores will come with full PIV plots, and this also enlarges our pool for selection of the weakest ones for the MURDER EXPERIMENT!

In effect, this for the first time ever also allows us to "cherry-pick" the diodes, and use the better ones for your builds or lazores!!! :angel:

If you did not build the laser yourself, i would suggest that you send the entire thing to me for a repair at cost of a new diode, and an inspection of what went wrong the first time around!

It could also provide a third diode for the experiment IF there is something REALLY wrong with yours, altho i'm not sure yet. There are other explanations...
