EDIT: Does anybody think that one would be able to POT mod this laser, and if it will have a considerable effect on its life even though the diode is most likely a PHR-803T?

no one probably knows since it was added a few days ago. it depends on if the supplier knew what the phr-803t's were or not. it could be a cheapo one. but this is a big leap in cost for one.
i have a hunch the tail cap is the same one as the dilda, it looks like it. and its cr2's. it might be swappable if you burn it out trying (and the purple finish should come off on a belt sander, ect...)

It says 405nm on the warning label, I think I was one of the first to see this. Anyways at 20mw it's really not worth it, I think you would have much trouble seeing it very well even in the dark. Don't expect to see much of a beam is any,

I used to have a 21mW blu-ray in the early days. You can see a faint beam with it, but only in near to total darkness. I now have a 43mW blu-ray which works much better as a moderately powered blu-ray.

For what it's worth if you do a custom hack job to a host without buying specialty parts like heat sinks you could probably run 40-50$ with batteries, driver, aixiz, diode etc for a moderatley powered one. Bit more if you want a heatsink or glass lens. Hell go all out(moderatley with a PHR)and it's only just over 100 bucks, you probably get 5X-6X times the performace for only double the price, probably way better build quality as well.

PHR sled = $8-12
AixiZ Module = $4
Rkcstr Driver = $11-13
3405 Host = $12
Jayrob heat sink = $24
Bateries and charger = $20

About $80 = High Qualiy 120mW Blu-Ray laser that will allow you to upgrade in the future.

If you lurk around the BST section you can find one cheaper sometimes.

I said over 100 if you have the jayrob glass lens though. I got all the above you listed but with the 405-G-1 glass. It cost a bit more though because I am Canadian so I over shot that a bit and I bought the diode in the Aixiz already because those stock heatsinks piss me off. For the cool factor and what your friends will think of the color, it's worth it for sure. Well you don't need the glass... unless you really want to burn. Also I believe the jayrob heatsink is 26$. I definetley sunk some extra dough into mine to make sure I am in awe though.
EDIT: 23$+3$ for shipping.

Screw the splatter. Even if you got a 30% increase its only 36mW. For the same price as the lens I bought a 6x GGW which was an 80mW+ increase with no spatter, and longer life than the PHR. So I have a 200mW 6X that was around $10 cheaper than your PHR w/ lens. Plus I have a 280mW red diode, an IR diode, and all the optics that came with the sled. Are you in awe now...

Thanks for correcting my $2 error on the heat sink. I dont know what I was thinking.
