Anyway, the laser was revived! With a more powerful diode! :D
Now i finally won't have to worry about it anymore...


OMG, it's 5:30 in the morning! :eek: I completelly forgot about time while making sure everything is perfect for the diode with the rounder beam..

I will definitelly not be leaving this laser on for 90 minutes a day now.. ;)

You're not considering just enjoying one of your lasers are you? People will start to think you're human.

What current did you set it at?

Well, let's just say, that i set it to  current you consider medium for a PHR..  ;D

Still, some people would say that i'm overdriving it, while others are driving theirs higher..

What is the Min and Max operating current for a 6x? Is it safe to drive the at 200mA?

No. If you want safe, drive it at 130mA. The datasheet allows up to 150mA, but only if the power is not more than 105mW at this current.

Only what the datasheet says is safe. If you want safe, you're in the wrong hobby. If you want a high power instead, you have to take a risk.



You can't expect someone to tell you it is safe to drive it at 200mA, and take responsibility for it dying after you do so..
It will definitelly live longer, than a PHR at the same current, but no one knows how long.

Ok, screw the datasheet.

I ment what do most people drive it at? I think Gooeygus drove his at 170mA...

GooeyGus drove his latest 6x at 180mA. Before that it was around 190mA.

Some are driving them at 200mA. I think one is even set to 210mA...


But all of GooeyGus' 6x diodes are dead. As far as i know, there are known reasons for them being dead, but you never know if driving them this high helped a little too.
