Hey I am new to lasers and I just got all parts to build a 200mW blu-ray (Diode, Driver, Aixiz module).
I've been inspired by StyroPyro's tutorial and I've got some questions.

1. Do I need to use a vice to put the diode into the Aixiz module or are there other ways to do so!

2. Is that weird soldering trick necessary? Can I just solder the two pins separately and let the case pin there?

Thanks, every support is appreciated :)

He sells a diode press kit. I have always purchased my diodes already pressed into the module. Not sure about the soldering trick. How about a hyperlink to the thread your referring to.

You still need a vice if you have a diode press kit, or at least something that'll actually press against the tool to push the diode in. A vice is the best tool for the job.

Pressing the diode into the module can be done using the back half of the module. However, it is not the best way, at least from my experience. A diode press tool and a vise should be used for the best results.

That Aixiz back half and a vice should be ok for a first build, thanks.

The few times I used the back half to press in... the back half would push in a little bit. This would make it impossible to get the diode all the way into the module. I don't know where the module halfs were from... could have been low quality ones. Just something to think about
