N.S. = NO $h1T !!!!

I have no idea what the current was at 1 W. It was inside the Kryton housing. I'm surprised the Lavadrive still works and adjusts. It got the limiting diodes HOT fast.

This diode may not last long but I'm having fun with it. I just lit a wad of steel wool in an instant from 18 focused inches!

LOL , tell me about it .

im about to bust a nutshell .

i'd say your at the top of Franco's chart. Since your still running it at 1W , could you measure the amperage?

too bad i dont have any steel wool around.

I turned it down FAST. Only 3 two second bursts at 1 W.
I'm now set at 500 mA getting ~620 mW.
Don't be impressed. Mine has poor efficiency and only survives because of the massive Kenom housing for heat sink. Time to COD is unknown.

I don't expect this diode to last long but I'll give it proper burial. The 1 W stuff was by mistake in my connections and I only hit it for a couple seconds. The meter was over driven and the actual power may have been only 800 mW.
This is part of the fun of experimenting. Too bad more people here don't try it -- it gets the juices flowing when you hold your breath and push the button on a $200 diode.

Awesome Mike, famous words are now " the actual power may have been only 800 mW"

Lol made my evening.

Ive pushed diodes in the past. not by their current but by their ON time. I ran a LCC driverless at about 600ma until the battery died. I ran this 8x @ 540mw for 45min straight . Sure it was a rush! heck this is the same diode thats hittin 605mw as we speak.

In my opinion its all in the fun and name of science.

Peace

"All 12x Owners" datasheet updated with the entrance of daguin!

HM (12x) and Slipstream (8x): If you PM me all the data, I'll be glad to add your last "jewels" in the relevant datasheets....

Nice post..

Back on topic:

Did anyone see the driver Quisp is using in his 12x build? I didnt know there was a V6 Flex!?

Just received my new order of FlexDrives today...

Still V5, must be a typo that Quisp is using a V6??

Just a heads up, right now you can get the BDR-205 for $194 shipped. Go to Run Tech Media and get it there, then enter promo code 10Tjoos5OFF.

I ordered one of Jayrob's 18650 CREE hosts and a BDR-205. This looks too interesting to pass up. :D

Daguin that is a crazy diode you have there.

I set your 'Hot' option to 400mA's as requested...

Probably as long as the forward voltage on your 12X is under 6 volts at that current, it will be fine. But remember that we are pushing the V5 FlexDrives with these builds.

Let us know how it goes on that!
