Buyers beware!
It sure does look that way. I think ebay members should send messages to the bidders letting them know. The auction says 50mW though so maybe he learned his lesson.
I dont plan on interfering, and am thinking ebay may remove it anyway. I dont think he is adhering to the 50mW as a lesson learned, he may have run it down to 50mW from a higher number taking the pics. Then running it to the point of death like the last one he sold... *Maybe :-X
Maybe he is overdriving a KES-400A to the point where it hits 50mW :

I have noticed a few people selling home modifications of lasers and not mentioning that fact in the auctions,
if its been a home modification, its only fair to mention,
though if built well these can be just as good if not more robust than factory ones.
wtf is that supposed to mean? *;D

Obviously his laser is a home modification, and if it's anything like the one I got from wallydraigle, it's not a very good one.

Update on this situation BTW:

When I got said 'laser' from wallydraigle, it didn't work at all. Nada, nothing, zilch. So now I had to get it apart. I think the guy used freaking JB weld on the threads for the top part of the laser. I struggled for a couple hours trying to get this thing off. Finally, I got it to break free, with just a couple small scratches to the tube itself. I took a look at the driver setup etc. The problem was that the diode was not ground to the case, yet he had a wire leading from the battery negative end of the driver to the head of the dilda. This is completely unnecessary if your diode is grounded to the case. It would have made more sense if this wire went to the diode itself, but it went to the case of the laser, which the diode wasn't electrically touching. So, a few drops of solder later it was a complete connection. Unfortunately, the diode worked on and off for a few minutes. No idea what was wrong with it, all the connections were good but it would randomly turn off or turn on. I think a wire inside the diode itself had some loose. When it came back on for the last time, it was an LED. So it lived for about 4 minutes. I couldn't even tell what kind of diode it was. The PHR and the 6x diode visually look identical, and I didn't get a chance to look at the beam pattern before it died.

But, all gray clouds have a silver lining, right? SO, I took one of my 803T sleds, got the diode out and set to work on building another dilda ray (I think this was my 5th one...). Remember how mitch said he used a 'high quality glass lens'? Nope. Regular aixiz acrylic and the back wasn't even cut out. Anyway, I got everything all soldered up and dialed in, and it does 115mW now. It's getting shipped first thing on monday. Wallydraigle has been waiting for his 14500 battery, and I wanted to repaint the barrel to fix the scratches. It was done about a week and a half ago but now it's finally going to it's final home. * Oh yeah, did I mention that half way through building this thing the switch in the tailcap just decided to stop working? Yeah. I took it apart and some of the plastic pieces inside were broken. SO that was another delay. But, thanks to bionic badger for helping me out with that and getting me a new switch!

Just thought I would let you guys know, I had a chance to open the can on this so called 'secret powerful diode' today, and compared it with various other diodes under microscope, including the PHR-803T, the 6x diode, the diodes from the HD-A3 standalone player, and the PS3 diode. I can say, 100% with no doubt in my mind, that this is a PHR-803T diode. They are IDENTICAL. The die in the 6x is VERY different, same goes for the HD-A3 and PS3 diode. Everything about the PHR was identical. The mount inside the can that the die sits on, the size of the die, everything. So this guy was full of shit. >

Im still shocked he didnt put a dead 6x in there..
Well at least we now know for sure what was putting all of the 6x's to shame :-? He now seems to be listing all things 803t under feepay member name 405nm, not to mention 405nm.com

Seems a bit surprising the 803T died..these are being pushed much higher and living now. Wally, i am glad to see that you will finally be getting a good laser from GG, it's just a major bummer that you had to go through all this to get it I personally am glad Mpmitch is not on here anymore.

Well the thing was probably pushed to around 180mA... so I'm not suprised it didn't last long. We know they can make a lot of power, but we also know they degrade very fast on high currents. I had one I was testing at 200mA and it lasted about a week, if that.
