Transitioning from torches to lasers. Great place you have here.

Just wanted to introduce myself to you fellow lase lovers. Just started having an interest in lasers of all shapes and sizes for some reason. Although flashlights are definitely cool, laser are definitely cooler. Looking forward to learning a lot from you fellow members. This is truly a great community.

Cheers!

Toph: If you have an abundance of high powered torches laying around, and wanted to trade one for a high powered laser, I'd be all ears. I wish I could just put together my own torch, but I don't have the hours right now to learn something new :(

Welcome to LPF!

My evolution to lasers was much the same... went through a bunch of flashlights, eventually got bored, saw a laser... and well here I am:D

Enjoy:wave:

For me it kind of went like:

1980s: HeNe lasers
(long pause...)
2000s: LEDs
2005: High powered LED flashlights
2008: Oh wow, lasers! I forgot!
2011: The stage of ignorance of how much money I've put into lasers. Just look at the freakin pretty lights.

Hehe I've always had an interest in lasers.. since the 80's.. I never forgot. Just didn't always have the money.. especially before diode lasers became prevalent. About all I had before then were HeNe's and the odd surplus air cooled argon-ion.
