so, here is my first question about lasers... In know that in dvd an cd burners are different diodes. The dvd ore cd player diodes ar ir diodes right? so which diodes in which burners are visible red? The dvd burner diodes?.... ive no kind of a plan what for drives y need | ||

Welcome, and I speak a tiny amount of German from high school, but probably nothing coherent lol ok, here it is. cd player = low power IR. cd burner = high power IR. dvd player = low power red. dvd burner = high power red. So a DVD Burner is probably the only one you want to consider. (I assume you want to build a burning red seeing as that's the easiest) But instead of ripping a drive yourself, you should consider getting a diode from SenKat at http://sales.stonetek.org Have fun reading! | ||

a DVD diode can range anywhere from about 640-670, the latter being the darker red.
