Hello Forum,
I'm new to the laser world although I've had an interest for as long as I can remember. Besides some having a few cheap pointers I've decided to take the plunge and ordered myself a O-Like 405nm 400mw and of course a pair of appropriate SAFTEY GLASSES :) I also plan on adding some different colors and think my next purchase would be a decent powered red.
I'm also a photographer so I'm looking forward to creating some cool photos with lasers sometime in the near future, and I also picked up some flash paper and some cracked and un-cracked uranium marbles to play with.
Thanks for providing such a great place to learn more about the hobby and providing useful tips and reviews.

Cheers,
Ed from NH

If you are very careful and conscious of what you are doing, always make sure everyone is wearing safety glasses, etc...

Then that O-Like 405nm 400mw is a pretty good choice. Not too insanely powerful, but powerful enough to have some great responsible fun. A good size, not too big and not too small. Easy to handle and to focus. Feels good in the hand.

I have one, and I liked it so much that I have a second one on the way.

No need to worry but thanks for the concern, safety is always #1 and I've had experience in working with hazardous items (welding, guns, high voltage, gas, steam etc...). That's one thing that impressed me about this forum is how people stress safety so much. I figured the Blu-ray would be a great starting point for the reasons you mentioned and all the great reviews posted about it. The Cute 300mw is also interesting maybe a little underpowered for what I'd like but the price can't be beat.
