Hey yall. I finally got around to signing up after lurking as a guest for a while checking out the forums here. Mainly I've been increasing my stockpile of my first higher powered lasers. My name is Mike, I'm from Florida in the US. I'm just really starting to get into higher powered lasers, though I've always been nuts about them, I just didn't know of too many great sources to find good lasers for a good price, the only place I was pretty much familiar with was "Wicked Lasers" and nothing else really, and after reading some of the comments about Wicked Lasers I'm glad I didn't make a purchase with them as my first. Mainly issues with actually getting them out, and having customs problems was my main worry with them. Anyways, I've been dealing a lot with Max at LAZERER lately. He's a really good person and gets things out real quick and packs them up real nice. I've become quite a fan, which is actually why all my lasers but one are from him...

My first purchase was a 1W 445nm "STICK" model from LAZERER, and I picked up a little 50mW "CLASSIC" model at the same time. Of course with some goggles (though I already had some coming in from somewhere else, I wanted them here when the lasers got here incase the others werent). I am NOT about to do damage to my eye at 25 years old. And yes I am pretty much very safety conscious, and it actually upsets me a little when I see other people completely ignoring the fact that these things can do big time damage (for example, a local gun shop started carrying "Survival Lasers" and one of the employees was showing it off to me, and pointed the 1.2w 445nm beam right at the light colored counter top, a little to my left thank god, which gave me time to look away, but there were customers around not expecting this).

Back to my other lasers, like I said I picked all of these up from LAZERER, as I am just getting started and I know he sells nice lasers for a good price.. I also have two reds, a 200mW 650nm (255mW stable) "CLASSIC" and a 150mW 638nm (160mW stable) "MINI". BTW I forgot to say, the 1W 445nm is 1013mW stable and the 50mW 532nm is 57mW stable with 4mW IR. I also have a 200mW (234mW stable) 405nm "CLASSIC" from LAZERER. For shiz and giggles I picked up a little cheap-O 5mW 405nm from Ebay a while back, and believe it or not, it's fairly surprising and is pretty decently bright for a $6 violet laser, with the beam being fairly dang visible in the dark and the dot being pretty dang bright..

Look forward to become a part of your little group here. I'll load up some pictures and beam shots of all my lasers soon, when I get a chance (see my avatar, that's the 1W 445nm at dusk). BTW I'm waiting on another order coming in. I'll fill yall in when/if it arrives...

Thanks for the welcomes. I still have a bunch to learn about lasers and have yet to know all of really what is out there, so hopefully I'll be able to cash in on some valuable info here. I don't know how soon, but I know definitely I want to do custom builds later on. I think there would be nothing like building your own laser and seeing it work and knowing that you did that, and knowing your lasers inside and out...

Glad your here, good to have another laser crazy (in a safe way) member.

Nice collection you've got going. I'd like to encourage you to try to build a laser, it's really satisfying to have a one of a kind piece that when someone says "Where did you get that" you say "I built it"

Clay, I'm in the same boat...looking to build a more powerful laser.

I also built a 1Watt 445nm burning ciruit. It will ignite paper and cardboard and also etch into wood and plasstics.

But I'm looking to build one that will etch metal. I'm currently trying to learn as much as i can about building a custom resonator. I know the laser source is a big part of the system but I also think that Max power depends on the makeup of your resonator and cutting head.

It sounds like you may be heading in the same direction...if so let's keep in touch...we can compare notes. I've just started looking into this so I don't have much info right now but hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll have a better idea of what I need to do.

Good Luck Clay!

Nice to see a fellow FLoridian... I recently moved to the Tampa area but find myself all over florida for work...
I've been a small part of these forums for a little while now and let me say that is a good bunch of people to associate with.. Let me suggest JayRob for build kits and FlamyinPyro for custom build projects.. They are just a couple of many good people to conduct laser business with on LPF.

Sheesh man I've asked a couple of times now, but you know what if you look up one night near Ft. Myers and see a couple bright 445nm you'll know where I'm at.:na::cool:

Hey, sorry bout that. The current computer that I am on at the moment is a huggeee POS. For some reason the wireless adapter is maxing out at 54Mbps and dropping down to 26 alot so I loose connection. That happened earlier when I was trying to do a multiquote on all yalls messages and when I tried responding to your PM... I'm from Melbourne, just a little bit south of Canaveral... It's a bit of a pain in the arse cause I live right next to Melbourne airport, and I have to very carefully watch the skies as I am right in the landing pattern of all of the small aircraft that come in, and I don't think the pilots would appreciate 1W of 450nm across their eyes...

*EDIT* Also, if anybody knows of a builder that could give me a quote on building a powerful 635nm, that would be great. I'm going to post a wanted shortly, but I just don't want to post it in the wrong area and have someone bite my head off, lol..

Still in state. Do you do custom builds? I'm looking to have a nice 635nm built, wanted to get 500mW or as close to it as possible.
