Laser Lingo

Hi, I'm totally new and just a random guy who likes lasers, and might be interested in building one, but first I was wondering if anyone has made a term glossary or dictionary to help people like me take the very first steps.

I'd like precise definitions of what each of these are and what they do please, as well as brands which typically provide them and how they fit into an assembled laser:

Diode

Module

Sled

Housing

Driver

Host

a quick look at the stickies will help out big time
but heres my definition lol

diode usually small 5.6 mm used in dvd cd oh and lasers for thier coherent light source

module is what the diode goes into usually has a focus lense too

sled is the dvd/cd optical unit its what houses the diode before its harvested

housing or module same thing

driver is what you connect the diode to to regulate current never hook a diode directly to any batt it will die

host is what the driver-diode module goes into a pen laser has a pen looking host
