Howdy from Kentucky

New to the forum, just wanted to introduce myself. Avid Ham radio guy so have honed electronics skills but with little laser tech knowledge, but I do all things with gusto, so I should be up to speed in no time. Have a 200mw new dilda and 200mw greenie, but looking to start building. Bet I get to know Jayrob pretty well.

Aah, a DXer! Welcome to the forum, you'll fit right in!
Check out Sam's Laser FAQ at Sam's Laser FAQ: Welcome Page if you need any info on gas lasers or diode lasers and their principles of operation.

A few places I would recommend for laser stuff are Jayrob and Hightechdealz for hosts, diodes and modules, DrLava and the Microflex Lavadrive, along with the rckstr micro drive for laser diode drivers, O-Like, Rayfoss and DealExtreme for various inexpensive lasers, accessories and tools.

Oh and if you need a laser power meter to know how powerful your laser is, the guy just above my post has some pretty nifty meters!

These are some of the names you'll see come up often. Check them out and don't hesitate to ask questions. Keep us posted on your future projects!

Thanks Guys! I see my immediate duty here is to read, read, read. Thanks for the forum MVP list, Ill be needing that. Already found Jayrob, and ordering a diode from Daguin. One of those nifty Laserbee meters will be next, I think. O-like has a little of my money, so does a weird little company called kaidomain that had a little greenie I couldnt resist. Gonna need some laser glasses real soon, and Id better time those to arrive first!
