I am new to this forum , and haven't owned a laser before . I joined up with you guys because I was considering a Wicked lasers S3 Arctic . Then I was trying to find reviews online so I new what I was getting myself into , then I found you guys and now I am hoping to get opinions on possibly buying a custom built one from somebody on here instead ..

My " ideal" would be a super visible laser that can definitely impress and awe my friends.
I might want to be able to use some filters and prisms and lenses to make pretty patterns , lights and generally "weird" looking stuff to make the neighbors think the aliens have come too .

And the other thing I was considering was some form of infrared laser that would be totally invisible , but still useful fmaybe bouncing off the windows for remote listening ... but Im thinking that Is more dangerous and " advanced " aso for now Ill happuily stick to special effects and fun stuff :)

So.. I don't know if this would be the place to ask , but I would love an education on this stuff , as well as get to know some trusted people on here .. and avoid scammers , or inferior products as I do need the most laser for my bucks

As a new laser enthusiast myself I highly recommend not using an infra red beam or any beam that is hard to see. While they are useful for ir listening they will trick you into thinking they won't blind you and... And they will.

Please stay away from wicked lasers. I bought my first there and the quality was bantha poodoo. I was impressed with the host but after a short stay here you will learn of better.

Please also don't build a high powered laser for the purpose of burning things and impressing friends. They would be impressed to see you build your own anyways but treating a dangerous hobby as a toy will end up with someone losing their sight.

Lastly, Welcome to the forums, im new myself and just been looking around and lurking. I've already learned more here than anywhere else. Let just finally stress that I take just as much consideration about safety with lasers as I do guns, and that means safety can never be stressed too much or too often.

P.s. if you want super bright but not high powered enough to be as dangerous then a low mw green beam (keyword AS dangerous) would definitely do the trick. Green is the single most visible color in the spectrum as far as human eyes go so it wouldn't take too much to be bright.

thanks so much for the warm welcome!

I am really concentrating on special effects for now , so the more dangerous Ir lasers are not on my soon to buy list.... I'd love to get something like the blue laser i was thinking of getting , but made by people who could get me a quality product ,so i am learning with the best , so to speak ...
