Hi! I'm new!! :)

Helloo everyone,
I'm new to the Forums & I've had a little red 5mw laser for a year or so ago (wasn't even too interested back then) and I love playing with it it's so cool!
My friend got a cheap 30mw 532nm from Bali and we love it and use it all the time!

Anyway, I have been looking int buying a higher powered laser, want it to cheap and still have fun with it. I'm looking at a DealExtreme 50mw 532nm Module, here it is,

50mW 532nm Green Laser Module (3V 11.9mm) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

and I've searched everywhere but does anyone know of a housing for this laser OR a laser that I can replace the module??

As a starter it would be easier to buy a complete laser, and there's no such thing as a 532nm green diode available. It's a DPSS laser module which is much bigger than a diode, and in turn would require customization on the host you want to swap with.

I'm on my phone and cannot view links, I'll leave those to someone else.

There are several members on the forum who make and sell hosts. Maybe post a want to buy thread in the B/S/T section about needing a pen host for your module. If you buy a host, you will need a heatsink to adapt the green module to mount in the host. Green modules are normally positive ground, by the way. You will want goggles for this new and more powerful green laser.

1. I want to build a laser myself.
2. Sorry, I meant Module.
3. Host is a 12mm, module is 11.9mm, I think it would fit, no?

Thanks, So I'm guessing the heatsink is something that just lets the laser fit in the housing... Also what goggles would you recommend?

The heatsink fits the laser module to the particular host it is designed for and allows the laser guts to cool properly so they don't burn. Read the info about goggles here in the forum before deciding what you want to buy, and there also may be some available in the B/S/T section. There are beginner goggles that will do for lesser power lasers, or you could get a good certified quality pair that will also be good for more powerful green lasers in your laser future. The ledshoppe laser is probably OK.

So are all heatsinks different? Wont the host come with one?

I'm sorry that i'm dumb with this but I cant find the answer.

The module is 11.9mm, does that mean I have to get a 11.9mm host or will a 12mm host fit?

If so, where can I find a 11.9mm host, because I can only find 12mm heatsinks.
