Yea, hey guys,:beer:
you can say bigG to me and im new at this forum and its pretty cool. its the best site on the web i think. Im trying to first buy a cheap pointer or so to first familiarize with lasers.

but ive one question: why do people want to have so powerful laserpointers? what can i do with it?

ok now im maybe going to buy my first laser and then well see

Welcome, as for your question, just get a laser and you'll see, you'll want more power as well!

welcome onboard!
stronger lasers have disadvantages too. obviously they are dangerous, and need eyeprotection. but as well you cant do a presentation with them, too bright and too distracting. as well, any "dirt", noise, splatter, splash around the dot will be brighter too. so there are good reasons for "weak" pointers too, I just made me a 5mw greenie for real presentations.
a stronger one is brighter (doh!), you can see the beam, and do things like point to stars to show to others. a strong laser can burn things.
but then.. a laser is great, the step from a flashlight to a laser is astonishing! the step from a regular laser to a strong laser isnt that big, afterwards..
better get different colors! :)
