Finally decided to buy myself a laser after looking into them for months. Waiting on my sanwu challenger and the next few weeks are going to kill me until it comes!

In the mean time I'm resisting the urge to pick up another one.

I ordered a beam expander from sanwu and it was expected to be delivered in 3-4 weeks but it showed up in just over one week surprisingly. I hope you got laser safety goggles btw, I suggest getting into making your own laser from parts around various sites like DTR and survival lasers. They have fair prices and you can build a much much much more powerful laser for a better price that way. You can also make custom hosts like the lightsaber in my signature, check it out

For sure got the safety glasses. Are there any places I can learn to start building, because at the moment it's very confusing to me.

Less than 5mw? Of your not trying to sell it you are totally in the clear to make one above 5mw. I'm guessing that was a typo. Plan on around $200 for the parts if you already have the basic tools. If you plan on burning stuff you will want to invest in a pair of decent safety glasses. Survival lasers has them $50-60. Check out the host assemblies while your there. I have two of their hosts if you want to look they are in my collection thread. There are about 2 dozen + members that have their own collection threads. That is a good place to start reading.

Do you know how to strip and solder two wires together? That's basically all the practical knowledge you need. Other than that its a matter of making sure you have the correct parts (i.e. diode, heatsink, host, driver, batteries) and in the correct configuration.

Haaaa, now you sound like me. There was a time I bought so many lasers all at once I forgot all that I bought. Careful it can be real habit forming. Fun, but habit forming. 😊

Atleast the next few won't be assss expensive (hopefully lmaoo) since I won't have to buy new safety glasses and a charger, cause those were not cheap hahaha.

Don't know how to solder yet, but saw a few videos on it and seems like something I can learn! :yh:

Sanwu makes really great products. You might want to check out Rick Trent on YouTube, he has some really high powered lasers for sale. Good quality also. Fair prices. I've bought a few from him. He puts out some dual diode lasers that are real sweet.
