I just got into lasers in general on a tangible level and used these forums quite a bit when doing my research for what kind of laser I wanted to buy to start with, so I created an account and here I am to say hello. I'm extremely passionate about physics so lasers intrique me on more then one level, and it just so happens my favorite color blue is also the easist wavelength to produce at high power for low cost.. worked in my benefit as I just bought a 1.6w blue focusable laser with 5 lil cool lenses for pattern effects.. I actually got it from lucklaser.com, and now im on the lookout for another high power blue laser and also more modest green, red, and 405nm violet range lasers. The one I got was advertised as 2w but the diode says 1.6 when u take it apart so I guess they rounded up lol. I've had tons of fun and actually gotten in a bit of trouble for burning my girlfriends curtains and wooden chairs, etc etc.. and for shining it around at a concert, kicked me out and tried takin it from me.

Anyhow not to ramble just saying hello and asking if anyone has suggestions for a reliable website to continue purchasing products from and also where I can locate the parts for my first DIY laser project. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum...

Just be aware, people will rip you a new one if you start talking about shining 2 watt lasers around at concerts, just sayin.

Appreciate it. As I said its my first one and I obviously wasn't shining it at or towards people. Also had a diffraction type lense that makes patterns on it. Thanks for the warning tho. And BTW I do realise it was quite irresponsible now.. The fact that i've started fire with the focuesd beam should have been enough to say its not a toy for concerts really.. Thats the reason I want a lower power green, red, and violet lasers

Greetings,

Welcome.
There are a number of very good builders here, and you would get a much better laser than buying from a chinese company.
For that matter, you can get parts yourself and build your own lasers. Many here are more than helpful when it comes to building tips.
Would also suggest reading reading the guides and faq's available here as they are a must read for a noobe....

Again, welcome.

cheers,
Moe

I like that idea for real, RVA isn't far at all from Va Beach anyways, i go up there to the hat factory all the time, or I used to anyways not sure what kinda music they play now..

I am goin to look into some builders here that I can buy from, as for now my only option for high powered lasers is chinese orders.. I'll get to know people slowly I'm sure though

Glad you realise you can't shine it at a concert (unless Flaming Lips are at Bonnaroo again) even if it's not directed at people. There's a graphic post on laserists courting trouble at concerts : HERE
