Hi all i am Dan from the UK.

I have been playing around with lasers for some time now but had nothing serious just a 60mw green Chinese knock off laser was meant to be 200mw.

I now own a 1.6w 450nm laser from odicforce (Jonathan Slater) and have got on the way one of Rick Trents 3.2-3.5w 445nm lasers should be with me next week.

Looking to start building some of my own lasers in the near future and i have no doubt this is the right place to gather the information i will be needing.

Thanks Dan

Be careful with the Rick Trent monster. I've had one as well and it s a beast. Just be sure to stick to a strict duty cycle because the driver is set very high. Because your in the uk I ould take advantage of Blord services. He is a great builder and on your side of the pond.

Welcome, be safe and have fun.

Hi Tmack and thanks for the reply.

Rick did warn me about the the cycles on his lasers so i will get the trusty timer out.

I will take a look at what blord has to offer.

What member on here is doing laser measuring tools at a good price?

Thanks Dan

Illumination supply sells the radient x4 for $100 . That's very cheap, but it has a bit slower of a response time. Which means by the time 30seconds passes, the peak of the reading has already passed. The Ophir power meter will cost $250 for the head alone but it will give you a much mor accurate reading at under a second. The radient maxes at 3.7w while the Ophir , depending on the setup can read up to 20w. The method most of us use for our ophirs max at 5-10w. It's all up to preference, and how accurate you want to measure your lasers.

Tmack you are a great help i will take a look at these i need to get one ordered asap.

I will be needing a setup with a max of 10w so it sounds like i will have no problems getting this.

Thanks Dan

If a 10w meter is your fancy, then contact member ARG. He builds the 10w rubicon. Many member that are serious about their measuring will tell you the rubicon is the cream of the crop. And not to mention ARG is a great member and will help you throughout the process.

If you don't mind me asking, why 10w??? Whatcha got cookin that will reach those numbers???

Very nice. Like I was saying before. Check out Blord. You will be very impressed with his quality. Click the link in my sig to see some examples of various builders here. It's right before the collection thread link. If you see anything that catches your eye, I can go into it in more detail if you like.
