Hello everyone, How ya goin?

I want to say my laser knowledge is was out of date until just a tick ago I didn't know laser pointers could be had in so many colors! I thought lasers were red or maybe green but that green would cost the bank.

I now know that has changed and I'd like to pick one up, From what I've read so far I know that lasers that anyone can buy these days aren't to be played with willy-nilly and keeping ya eyes safe is a must!

This place looks like the best place on the web to get to know about lasers so here I am!

"2008 in Australia, a number of coordinated attacks take place involving high-powered laser pointers being pointed at the cockpit of commercial aircraft - Australian Laser law will never be the same.

According to federal law in Australia, any hand-held, battery operated laser with a power emmission above 1mW is considered a dangerous weapon, and written consent must be obtained prior to possessing/importing such a laser pointer. However, according to an Australian Customs fact sheet, laser diodes, modules and other laser equipment above 1mW is legal to import."

I didn't know that but I'm not surprised that lasers would go down the same path as guns here, It seems if I'm to get one worth having I would have to put one together myself?

I'm a fairly handy mate when it comes to hand tools but I'm not sure if if I want to take that on, I'll have to think on that a tick...

Thanks for the heads up, Good looking out!

Welcome to the forum DougDownUnder. Glad you are aware that the higher powered lasers can cause permanent damage. :gj: There's a couple members here in the forum that live in Australia. Maybe they can help you out. Enjoy and be safe. :)
