Hello from Northern California

I hope I'm not too late to start one of these.

Hey, all. I am a newcomer. Though I've been a member for several weeks, I've failed to follow protocol and start a welcome thread. I am a single parent of two teenagers who are loving science and I'm rekindling my own interest in all things photonic (meaning, lasers.)

I've purchased a few laser pointers and some gas lasers, and I'm back in the saddle because several of them are not in working order.

I can be a bit sarcastic, at times. Someone asked me what I was giving up for Lent, and I said "Sarcasm!" They then asked how I was doing with that. I had to concede, poorly.

I live among vineyards and wine folk. Although I grew up in SoCal, I've lived up here more than half my life, now. I hope to get to know many of you, and maybe I can contribute something, from time to time...
