Greetings, I am 45 years old and a senior in the Mechatronics BS program at ECPI at the Greensboro campus. I am currently gathering the materials to convert a table top CNC machine into a laser etcher for my senior project. I would really love to get into the custom laser pointer hobby. I have a 5W 445nm pointer on the way which I will use as the burner for my project. I look forward to learning from the wealth of information contained in this forum.

Hello! Welcome! I'm new too, but I wanted to post here because I have the same interest in doing things with lasers. As in, making a laser etcher/cutter from old dvd roms :p

i have a 5 watt labby with power supply. This will run much longer than the pointer. Plus you should only run the 5 watt pointer no longer than a couple minuts. Look in the BuySellTrade for my post: "Price Reduced! 5.5 watt labby with foot pedal control and other stuff"
We could swap if you like

Also who is making the 5 watt pointer?
Im getting one via SciFi lasers
