hi
I'm new to the forum but have been lurking around for over a year or so now. My work schedule is very hectic, but i hope to contribute in the future when i can.
I've built a couple of lasers with the help of knowledge gained from "lurking".
A 16x open can red (180mw) in a Radio Shack red 2xAAA pointer host, using the hosts optics and diode mount...slices through electrical tape quite nicely!
Another 16x open can red (200mw)in a silver AAA host with "improvised" diode mount and optics from an old web cam
A 160mw IR in a black no name AA host with diode mount and optics from a cheap dollar store pointer
I also have a Coherent "LaserCheck" to measure my lasers output power.
I have a few other projects in the works, including a keychain red/violet, and an RGV in a AAA host. these may take a while to finish.
The RGV will use 3 LM317 regulators, and 3 flat rectangular LI batteries obtained from cheap key chain digital photo frames.
I like to build and improvise rather then buy AXIS modules and such
Now please don't flame me, but my completed builds so far have used only a resistor for current limiting and a diode and capacitor for LD protection. All have used Alkaline AA or AAA for power. no dead LD's so far!
Thanks to all of you for the knowledge i have learned from lurking!
