Hi everyone!

I'm fairly new to lasers and just started collecting parts to build my first 1W 1.25a driven blue (still new to the 'nm' wavelengths) laser :)

If anyone has any advice for me it would be appreciated :D

Hi!

I'm using a C6 cree, a an M140 445nm diode (I think 445nm is right... Blue anyway) a 1.25a driver from Survival laser and a copper heatsink.

...and I am! I'm in the Air Force, not a pilot within the RAF but I am learning to fly :)

Sounds like you bought quality stuff. Someone did their homework . Did you get the c6 from them too. Only thing I can think of is make sure you have the brass ring that makes the driver fit in the pill nicely and your good to go.

Make sure you short the leads to everything before you solder as well. Just touch the wires to the diode together and the driver together just to make sure there is no stored energy.
And ground yourself to prevent a static shock to the diode that will kill it. I just touch something I know will release any static before handling the diode.
I hope you are using proper cells too. IMR, or brand name cells. No . -----fire cells.

Haha good :) yeah I got everything from Survival bar the Diode, I got that from DTR. I have the little brass ring too! :D

So to short the wires to everything, do I just touch the positive to the negative on the diode and same again on the driver? I've also been told to never touch the wires onto the the diode body itself... Is this true?

I always ground myself before doing work to my PC so I just use my radiator... and it's very important to ground yourself and an aircraft before you refuel it! haha

I have Energizer lithium 123 cells... But I have bought some -----fire cells and a charger from china... It's too late to cancel too :( is this a really big deal?

Wow... Okay, they look deadly tbh... I think I might return them as soon as they arrive and get some IMR cells.

No problem. Like I said " efest" makes great IMR batteries.

DTR and Survival Laser... my first build was parted from them as well. Awesome fellas and highly recommended.
