Hello fellow laser enthusiasts.
My name is Tom. I live in central Pennsylvania. I can remember being fascinated with laser's since 8th grade but Ive never owned a "serious" laser before. Over the last 4 years Ive slightly dabbled with cheap 5mw green laser pointers because I am an avid amateur astronomer. Over the last week I have been more closely looking/reading/learning about lasers. My GLP was acting up so I took it apart, messed it up.
Looking for replacement modules led me to DX.com where I bought a 50mw module (Ive since learned via this forum it may be a poor module) and in searching for other lasers I kept seeing this forum pop up in search results. IVE LEARNED ALOT from this forum already and ive just been lurking/joined this week.
Funny enough what really brought me into this forum was wanting to put my new (hasnt came yet) module in a Star Trek phaser. google searches brought me to this amazing thread/tutorial by jayrob lol

I plan on using a phaser from "The Next Generation" series because I "grew up" with TNG. It will just be a pointer for astronomy.
Forgive me if Iam rambling. Now my head is spinning with all this cool new information and I find myself thinking and looking at higher powered "burning" 405nm 445nm lengths.
I am also on Cloudynights.com astronomy forum with this same username.
Ill end with my homebuilt reflector and I
