I'm not new to the LPF but it says it has been almost eleven months since my last visit. The date it gives was two days after my daughter was born. Also I forgot my password. Just by chance itried logging on now and I've remembered.
Its amasing how having a little person in the house makes you forget things.
But enough of that,hello again guys nice to be back and all that.

Welcome, and congrats on your young one. They grow up real quick. So enjoy, and best wishes with your first build. What's the first build going to be? Because you have little children around I'm sure you'll be extra careful because one shot in the eye is all it takes. Grab some safety glasses. Be safe and fun and enjoy. Have there been any new developments to catch you up on? There was almost a source for 488 diodes, that never panned out. Host machinists are still hard to come by but survival laser still has some nice options.

Ive not managed to build my laser yet. Ive got a pretty goot idea of what parts iwant ot use though. Its justa case of getting round to putting it together. Ive got a guy who has a lathe so i may end up asking him to make me a heat sink. My problem is i need a duty cycle of over 60 seconds and power over 2W. And yeah i know with the kids around i have to be careful. I'llnot even turn the thing on if she's around. maybe when she's old enough to understand and behave.
I'm not going to do the conventional self contained build maybe something more open and modula. Seaier to tinker with and will be easier cool. I have a project that Iam attempting that hasa deadline of next march. Hopefully my Artic Spyderwill do the trick. But thats wheremy porblem lies is that ihave to beat that. and for all their problems they have a near unlimited duty cycle and a decent amount of power.

oh yeah and andromeda will rock. My missus will kill me though when I spend 270 on the collectors edition (another spend that is slowing down my laser build).
