Have seen a number of lasers from years back, the simple red ones and never got all that into it. Bought a package of 5mw lasers a weeks back off of amazon and been having so much fun with them deceided to look into lasers a bit more. I just needed some lasers you could see the beam. Interested in learning more about them building a bit of a collection and maybe building a few of my own. I live just outside of pittsburgh and am ussually pretty busy with work, and raising kids.

Welcome!
Greens are good. I have a true 5 mW green and I can clearly see the beam at night. As its only 5 mW, I use it inside and without goggles. Looks amazing.

With the higher powered ones if you want to see the beam, you should really use them outdoors, as you wont be using your goggles. An exception to this would be if you mounted the laser so it cant move and the beam terminates in a proper beam stop. You should also make sure nothing can fall into the beam. Some people do this so they can admire the beam indoors.

There are loads of lasers in the BST section if youre looking to buy and if you want to build check out DTR, AnthoT, Flaminpyro, Eudaimonium etc for parts...
