Heard alot of good things about this site as I searched the internet for laser info. I shamefully admit my first laser was driverless maglite  DIY that lasted 4 days! Now I build my own drivers. Everybody has to start somewhere...

Thanks. I just snapped off one of the pins on my open can diode!  There goes $40.

hey everybody makes mistakes...thats why people in the forums always recommend to buy more diodes than you really need...

you have to make some mistakes to learn.

Maybe not. There is a 66% chance your diode is easily salvageable. If it was the PD pin, it doesn't matter, I cut those off anyway. If it was the ground pin, just solder the ground wire of your driver to the heatsink of your laser. If it was the positive pin, then I guess you could try soldering it back on :-/

It was the positive pin, it broke off flush w/ the diode. Micro soldering?
