Well, this is my first post here in the forum
I'm trying to install the folowing

808nm 1000mw High Power Laser Diode
Amazon.com: 808nm 1000mw High Power Laser Diode: Everything Else
Aixiz 12x30mm Laser Module Case
1W 445nm blue laser diode driver / 405nm laser driver
http://www.amazon.com/AixiZ-445nm-laser-module-assembly/dp/B004TMM6HU/ref=pd_sim_misc_5

the diode look too big to be installled in the case.
I checked the net I found that the diode is 5.6mm
and the case is 5.6mm diodes compatible

Is there any tricks? or they are not compatible?

I'm not planning to use IR laser, but it's just a try.

If the diode says it's 5.6mm it will fit in the Aixiz module as Aixiz only sells 5.6mm diode housings. No tricks.

I think most 1W 808 diodes are 9mm. May be mislabled. What is the actual diameter of the diode? 5.6 or 9mm? (at the brass base)

Actually I didn't find datasheet for the diode I baught
being 9mm is more logical
Well , what housing should I use then?
BTW , I have another question may be out of this forum scope, Can I control the driver using microcontroler board? Basic stamp foe example?

Someone here makes/made a "mod9" aixiz module clone for 9mm diodes, O-like sells some with a built-in heatsink, and ebay has them too. 808 is near infrared so it looks dull red even at dangerous eye-melting outputs (just my required disclaimer:na:). I'm not sure about the driver question

You are welcome. I added a link to RHD's sale thread to the mod9's in my last post:beer:
