So i got the buck driver and what i received looks slightly different than what was on the site. My question is does the resistor that the blue arrow is pointing to need to be removed for it to match what is on the sources site? The one picture says that its the optional on/off push button but as you can see on my driver theres a resistor there

Although very similar, that does not appear to be the same driver. Are there markings on the bottom of the driver as to what model it is? Perhaps it's a very early version. I compared your picture to the drivers I have on hand and they are definitely not the same. Mine look just like the stock photos.

When it arrived though it looked exactly like it except for that one spot that i pointed out. Ordered it set to 4.0A and after wiring everything up nothing happened so i took it all apart since I was at work lol

Hi,
The first pic shown to what I see is that driver seems to be toasted.
And not like the second pic. the first pic looks terrible it desert look like a new driver but used . If thats what you recieved I would ask for another driver. That driver looks fried. I have X wossee drivers and they do not look like that at all.

I think your seeing my flux and my thermal paste lol. No it was new when i got it lol, but my shitty iron wasn't doing jack shit and then i borrowed a good iron from work to solder the 4 spots and when i finished i tested it out to see if it works and nothing happened. Driver was set to 4A and was using a nubm44 7W with 2 18650s powering it, and going off the voltage coming out of the host it said 8.2 volts, maybe my driver was set too low 🤷‍♀️ but should have came on though right

Yours has a completely different inductor and the pot isn't aligned the same with it. There also seems to be some other additional components.

Must be a very early version if not the first. X-Wossee had a lot of trouble getting the same chips over and over so the design had to keep changing.

Ive had some 4500's and 5500's without the switch pad, they work just fine switching power at the battery. Do not remove that resistor in the corner, its necessary for the driver to work

Did DTR reimburse you?
was the clipart on the same sales page of the driver you bought?
