So, in a nutshell, I'm trying to get a 638 built, however I still need the driver (and diode.) The challenge is getting a driver around 700mA (or higher if it's safe) to power it off of a single battery. I'm putting it in a fairly small host. If you have a driver, and a diode, I wouldn't mind buying them both. As long as it's module free, it's a direct press build. Thank you for any help!

Best way to get 700mA from a driver running on single cell is a AMC7135 driver. Use two ic on the driver and your are set. How large is the space for the driver ? You can use two of these in parallel,

Also, I think DTR has some running using X-Drive with one cell. Check his site... He also has the diodes.

cajunlasers sells the iron4d driver for the mits. driver mounts right to the diode pins.
