Wow, 24x20? That's a huge build plate, pretty much double what I'm working with now. That could almost be too big, as far as 3d printing goes. It might be difficult to source a surface flat enough for a reasonable price. Of course, you could always have a smaller, and removable, surface just for...
If I run the laser below threshold current, will I be able to get a good focus that will work while lasing? I'm putting a laser on a cnc setup, and I need as sharp a focus as possible, but I'm hesitant to try doing it while it's actually lasing.
Awesome! I look forward to seeing some updates. It seems that you have a good point about acceleration over each pixel, I hadn't thought of that before. I guess I'll go back to looking at power modulation. I've seen a few implementations for grbl, but I already have a RAMPS board hooked up...
This is awesome. I was actually just looking at doing this exact same thing, but since I already have a 3d printer that I built, I decided to just put a laser on it instead, to keep costs down, plus I'm out of desk space. I'm curious to know more about your gcode extension, because that's the...
Hello everyone, customyota here. I stumbled across this forum while researching some ideas about adding a laser to my 3d printer for etching. I'm stoked to have found such a wealth of knowledge on this subject and now I'm thinking of maybe doing a little more. :thanks:
