    New laser for me...

Well It arrived today, and oh my god. This is definitely a weapon. The beam is beautiful outside, but I am not even run it inside anywhere without glasses.

    New super cheap Blu-ray build

Progress is kinda halted, I cant find a driver small enough, and the module's beam spot sucks, way to large with bad washout. Gonna try and go a little bigger, but not much. All I can say for a first build is plan well, then get ready to alter them on the fly. LOL

    New super cheap Blu-ray build

Yeah, I really need a boost driver, the one I have isn't gonna work. The problem I have is I need one at least 8mm wide or smaller.

    5000mW Handheld - legit?

Agreed, I learned the hard way that MOST of the ads are fake. Why is it allowed, more people might donate (I would) for server costs if it were not for that problem alone. That being said, sci fi lasers is great, I am in contact with him now and he has answered my questions, even at 2:30 am...

    New laser for me...

I don't care what safe really is, a 2W laser to me is a weapon, and just like when I shoot I wear safety glasses, I will wear glasses with this, I might go outside and take them off, (I shoot precision scoped long range rifle without glasses, too much risk of distortion) but never inside, I...

    New laser for me...

Yeah I figured goggles are a must, ordered them first. BUT let me get this straight, outdoors or just showing off the beam (not burning, or anything, I guess focused to infinity) it is ok to use without. This is my first high powered (over 500mw) laser so I figured go big or go home. The parlor...

    New laser for me...

Ordered this: SF501B 445nm Blue in 2W today, now the waiting begins. What can I expect from a blue laser, I have 405s, 532s, 640s, but this is my first high powered blue. Anyone got one?

    New super cheap Blu-ray build

Ya know surprisingly I bought this one to take apart, so I will be glad to provide pics. I have a feeling it will be a few weeks though(slow boat from china).

    New super cheap Blu-ray build

So after a few year hiatus I am back at lasers. Now I am looking to build a very small blu-ray pointer. It will use a disposable E-cig as a host. The driver is in its own thread since I am curious to how it works and is it safe to use for these diodes: 405nm 150mW Blu Ray Burning UV Laser Diode...

    World's record red

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I looked on Aixiz and could not find the micros anywhere, just the 8mm. Ordered the focusable 8mm for the housing, to use in a micro blu-ray. Where can I find the micros at? Oh if you still are doing the 2.50 for four, Let me know. I have a feeling I can use...

Weird driver out of cheap red pointer.

So it is safe to use with a 150ma Sony diode since it will output the required 3.6 volts, at 80ma only, not overpowering the laser diode? The only reasons I ask is it is the first true "driver" I have ever seen on a cheap laser, let alone a red pointer from some dollar store. That along with...

Weird driver out of cheap red pointer.

I took apart an old red I had laying around (it was pretty bright), and found a 5.6mm diode in an 8x13mm module with a driver. It was a 3 volt driver, so I hooked it up to a 3.7 volt I scavenged out of an old E-cig (3.746v tested) and a red LED, 2.4v at 80mA. Out of curiosity I hooked it to a...

    E-Bay 301 405 Laser

Anyone provide a link I'm finding a bunch of them, or are they all the same, just a crapshoot. I ordered this one seeing as how it has a picture of lighting a match, but will order another, and if this one is the wrong one I will just have two. 301 Super Power 405nm Adjustable Focus Blue Violet...
