Well...amazingly enough, the laser is still available, everyone. I'm going to have Optotronics ship it back to me because I think I'm just going to hold onto it at this point. I may do as you suggest, Milos, and shop it around other places as well.
Re: For Sale: Optotronics RPL 450 (Brand New Condition, hardly ever used)
Getting interest, but as of now, the RPL is still available! :)
Someone come in and snap up this deal!
Re: For Sale: Optotronics RPL 450 (Brand New Condition, hardly ever used)
Yes I do and Jack has been excellent in my dealings with him thus far. The laser is still available, folks. Someone jump on this deal :) A practically new RPL 450 for a faction of the cost!
Re: For Sale: Optotronics RPL 450 (Brand New Condition, hardly ever used)
Thank you, Encap :)
Jander,
As Encap said, there is a middle man that is involved for this sale. I am happy to take the laser and ship it out myself, but thought it would be better for Optotronics to be the middle...
Not sure about diffused light, but accidentally looking directly at a 50mw beam could definitely damage your eyes. Not worth the risk with that much power. As others have said, unless it's <5mw, then I would get safety glasses.
I have up for sale my Optotronics (Optotronics Laser Products) RPL 450 532nm DPSS hand held laser. The laser peaks over 500mw and averages 488mw (based on documentation provided with the unit). I bought the laser in August 2012, initially for stargazing. Unfortunately, I have not had much time...
Optotronics makes great stuff also. If you are interested, I'm going to be putting up a Optotronics RPL 450 (brand new condition, hardly used) soon at a considerable discount. Contact me if interested.
I am interested in commissioning a multi-diode 445nm laser build. Not sure who (if anyone) here does these sorts of builds, but please contact me if you are interested.
You can look at the beam in the sky, but definitely avoid shining it at anything (not just white walls) a couple feet away from you if you don't have safety glasses on.
Frankly, at that power level (2W) I don't think wearing safety glasses even when pointing it at the sky is a bad idea. These...
