finally got my 1st DIY laser working

Ok so after wasting a good few hours and killing lots of poor diodes ive finally managed to get my 1st DIY laser up and running. Im using this Diode in an Aixiz housing using a LM317 driver, the driver is being supplied around 7V from a mains adaptor and is letting 229mA to the diode. Ive...

I thought they was about 20mw, I've seen photos of them lit up and mine was nowhere near as bright. Will get some proper diodes and give them a go.

1st Build = Fail, Some advice please

Ok so i attempted to get a ps3 diode up and running using a LM317 driver. Everything seemed to go ok with the driver build, i got all the readings i wanted to see on the DMM when testing a dummy load, yet when i wired the diode up it wouldn't light up very bright. Now looking at the evidence...

I got my diodes, lm317 + parts, now what ??

Ok cool I'll order a few later, I've just finished finding all the parts I need from work so I'll get on with building the driver and testing it with a dummy load tonight so when the modules come I can just pop the diode in and fire it up.

I got my diodes, lm317 + parts, now what ??

Thanks that's what I thought, it's deffo from a ps3 as I have dismantled the whole drive myself. I have a 5mw red lesser pen that's run on a diode that looks the same as the bluray one (not the flat open ones you Normaly find in cheap pointers) would thing be ok to just swap diodes with or...

I got my diodes, lm317 + parts, now what ??

Ok so im new, Please go easy. Im planning on getting a blu-ray diode from a ps3 running as my 1st project, ive looked into the driver and fully understand all that but im still unsure on what power to run the diode at. Sams FAQ says 30-40 ma (or round about that) the rogg8811 says 125ma Big...
