Ok so basically I have 2 questions I want to knock out in 1 thread.
1.) It's obvious that a laser DOT produces heat if powerful enough. So for experimental sake we'll use variable 1 as a >1000mW 445 laser.
So if you were to capture the laser DOT with a thermal imaging camera it would obviously...
I have a 30mW & 5mW 532nm laser. Obviously there is a pretty good difference in the how to beam looks between the 2.
Can anyone tell me how the beam of a 200-250mW beam would be like? I want a good solid green beam, but if the difference isn't that great I won't was the investment. It may seem...

Can anyone ID the manufactures name or the name of the heatsink? I've been looking for one just like it all over but for the life of me, can't seem to find one.
I recently purchased a 30mW 532 module and hooked it up to the standard driver. I notice there is no green beam, But what I do see is on the inside of the module is glowing faint red (Maybe IR?)
Anyone know what this means? did I get a dud/blow it up? or Maybe I am just hooking it up wrong...

Thinking of making the circle one into a 445nm 1-1.2W and the square one perhaps a 405nm (Dunno what power yet)

this is a supposed 30-45mW 535nm laser with NO DRIVER. They're claiming the duty cycle is 2 hours on 15 minutes off. I somehow can't see that possible with no drivers.

I was wondering if there was the possibility of having the heat sink be too big? Not like a huge 1ft solid block, But a relatively large computer heat sink.
If so, what would happen if the heat sink was too big.
(By heat sink I am most referring to a lab like housing heat sink)

Alright, so here is the deal. I took apart a dvd-rw drive from a gateway computer (Laptop). I pulled out the 2 diodes and they are both square with 10 pins.
My question is. How in the world do you rig a square diode up with 10 pins?
