I have one of those! It's surprisingly accurate.($5 at a yard sale. I think they're usually $20)
Speaking of which, did anyone see the KipKay video where his "hack" job on the Hot Wheels speed gun was basically a casemod?*facepalm*
Ordered a driver last night. Payment hasn't cleared yet, so probably won't arrive just yet.
A puzzle: A week and a half ago, I ordered the diodes. They arrived a week ago.(yay!)
They also arrived just today? Sent E-mail to HighTechDealz.
er... yes, yes I do. Thank-you for the help anyway.
So you say the most cost-effective solution will probably be just to use the 100mW Blu-Ray diode? If so, I think I'll just go with that.
so other than the diode... I'll probably need a housing, yes? Are the housing and lens on this page a...
People who say this bug me. If the people you're talking about are going to get offended, they're going to get offended no matter what you say about them.(Classic "Does this dress make me look fat?" trap.) It comes off as wimping out.
Also, the second picture(with Silvershot's face doctored...
Showing these people what it looks like on the inside of the cockpit will only encourage them. They don't care about other people, they want to cause harm. Otherwise, they wouldn't be doing things they know full well are dangerous and wrong.
The only fitting punishment for people trying to...
To be fair, he also said that nobody would have expected the girl's father to react that way, so sometimes, you really can't tell.
But then if we never took chances, the world would be a very boring place, and frankly, not worth living in.
Well at least then we can blame the parents... The way you break the news can also have a lot to do with it.
The way I was raised, though, until you turn 18 and move out(well, I'm halfway there...), you live under their rules, so even though I'm 24, if I think I may be in trouble, it's time to...
Ouch.
[edit]GOOD NEWS, EVERYONE! The paycheck I was expecting this weekend arrived, and it's worth almost twice what it usually is!
Safety goggles, here I come!
I'm glad people are more sensible here than over at the Escapist forums.
Please watch(Note: it's Penn and Teller's BullS***, so there's language, but it's otherwise very good.)
You know what would really bring out your eyes? ;)
You know how people always say parents are to blame for kids acting stupid?
YOU'RE UNDERMINING THE ARGUMENT. Tell your parents. They're only trying to protect you. You can save the stupid stuff until you're 18.
Good thing I didn't have the cash and therefore couldn't check my order out, then, isn't it? :D Is this a good price?
No cash lost on the Joule Thief, it was going to be made of scavenged parts anyway. I may use it for the LCD projector I've been threatening to make since March, though...
Ooo, we like O-like around here, don't we? ;) Well they've got these which, as I said, are a bit out of my price range.
Working on a Joule thief as-per this thread. Have my coil wound(soldering went easier than I'd expected) and picked a transistor that should work, though if I'm ordering from...
Re: School project: Homebrew laser etcher.
Haha, no...
Thanks for the thought, though.:p
Right: safety time!
I need goggles, and I can't pay $50 a pair.($30 plus shipping tends to get about there...) I just don't have the money for it.
I can use these for the blu-ray diode if I'm really...
Funny you should ask...
(Hilarious, actually. I'm not offering the one I'm building, but for $2000, if your timetable is flexible, I'd be happy to apply what I learn.)
Re: School project: Homebrew laser etcher.
Rock on! They have cheap sleds with the diodes in 'em. Suggest driving the blu-ray one at a lower power than the red one. There's a plotter here that was later modded to run with a 300 mW red laser, and looks like it marks up (soft) wood pretty...
Re: School project: Homebrew laser etcher.
Ouch... Can't afford a $130 laser.
OK then, Blu-ray vs. 20X DVD burner?
For Blu-Ray, I'm thinking probably one of these, but am still open to suggestions.
If I'm smart, I'll start working on the first linear actuator build tomorrow and try to build...
Re: School project: Homebrew laser etcher.
I bought the scanner, but I didn't buy the deputy.
Which is probably a good thing. Slavery's been outlawed here for ages.
Right, so diode selection...
Etch speed isn't important, so long as I don't occupy the entire class and/or blind anybody. I...
I suspect it has something to do with the fact that back in the 70s(that's 1770s), the citizens of the newly-formed United States decided to do a lot of things differently from Britain just to be different, so it's probably just as well we aren't discussing all this in Deutsch like almost...
