got myself a mini-henelaser by the size of a laserpointer... only 15 euros. uses 10-14vdc 4mA and the included psu pumps out 1250vdc..
nice beam coming out
next is the co2 laser (already got the optics and a very powerful focussing lens from a 3kW lasercutter)
try sam's laserfaq, there's lots...
i've seen very nice high power laser diodes on ebay; most us sellers don't ship to europe... :'(
are there other ways to get one of these beauties to NL?
this is what tnt-post charges:

great!
googled for such projects, and discovered that vibrating motors from cell phones are even smaller and only 1,50 euro each.
compact design coming up!
great! i was looking for more info about lenses.... this could be useful.
i got now a 5" CO2 focussing lens from work (used one of course), but i think it's not very useful for focussing yag or diode lasers....
hi!
looked at your photo of the rod...it looks a lot like the ones in the yag-laser at my work!
approx.30cm? 1rod+2 arc lamps combined with watercooling (demineralized water), reflector, and proper oc/hr mirrors could make a nice 500W CW.
Well, that's what 1 unit generates/ with 4 rods in series...
don't know how much that is in metric, but since 2 of those lamps pump a 30cm nd:yag rod (all = watercooled 200L/Hr using demineralized water)===> 500W output power.
With 500W yag-power and the proper focussing lenses you can even weld some stainless steel (<1mm thick)
I normally use 1000Watts...
hi,
i got those arc lamps which i mentioned some time ago.
i changed em last thursday, so now i got 8 of them.
they are used (1000 hrs), but are still good enough for experiments.
voltage is 246VDC as seen on description, an MUST be watercooled!
safety goggles are a MUST, since the lamps are...
well, i got em...
the ''240mw'' one is much brighter than the other ones, although i don't think it really is 240mw
real output power.
learned my lesson, though a nice toy to experiment with
just bought my first green 5mw from ebay..
i want to make a big one using a c-mount (or more coupled) with nd:yvo4 and ktp crystal.
anyone suggestions on what to look for if i want >1W output power?
like dimensions/specs from crystals etc.
