Based upon Rog's design, I set about making a laser lighter as one of those "would it be possible" projects.
Tweaking the concept slightly and improving various aspects I came up with the finished project. It was made nearly 6 months ago, but has never been used since, so after a summer clear...
Well... let's kick this new place off with some info.
It's the same as in this post; http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1196266417 (just stripped down only containing optics)
Perhaps everyone could post their own bits of info on optics, so we'll have a sort of forum optics...
Hey Greg,
I know you're busy with your op and what not, but I noticed from your profile, you joined this time last year! 365 days! You must be one of the first to join.
Happy (LPF) Birthday! :D
And good luck with your operation! I'm sure you'll be fine.
Dan :-)
Hi,
Basically as per the title: What's the current draw off the DX 50/100mw Green?
Specifically this one: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10096
I'm interested in hooking this up to a Die4Drive, but the most current it can supply is 1A. So I wondered if someone could hook this up a...
Hi,
I'm sure most people have read the other posts, but I'm thinking of making a scanner over the next few months. But I want to build it up bit by bit, perhaps adding another part each month or so. But I want to plan ahead to make sure I'm ordering the right bits for the final goal of a full...
Hi All,
I know there is a mega-ton of information floating around here, and all someone has to do is SEARCH for the answer. And I know most of it is stickied into relevant threads etc. But sometimes some questions asked are about the basics of a subject. So I've come across a REALLY good...
Hi,
I just thought I'd share this with you all:
I was reading the latest edition of "The Engineer" (UK Science Periodical) and there was an article about a new type of UV laser diodes being designed. Supposedly the "shortest wavelength ever made by a diode" or something.
Anyway, I scanned in...
LOL!!! http://www.instructables.com/id/Control-your-Computer...-with-a-LASER!/?ALLSTEPS
I've seen this done loads before, like most know, optical mice are great fun aiming them at bright lights.
He's got a nice idea, BUT how can you click!!!!!
Also, guess which laser he's using - yep, it's a...
Hi,
I dissected my blu-ray last night, and I didn't realise there were so many pins! Does someone have a diagram out there that explains which one is which! I know there is one for blu-ray, one for the Red LD, and one for the Infra-Red LD, pulsed + GND. But I can't tell for the life of me which...
Hi,
Ok, this is probably due to my electronics knowledge (or lack of it!)
I've setup a LM317 as per sed diagram
I've got a 50ohm pot and a fixed 10 ohm in together. I'm using 4x 1N4001 diodes in series to simulate the load.
My min voltage is 2.86V @ 20.7mA and when I crank the pot up I get a...
Hi all,
I posted before that I had some ferrofluid to play with from a year or so ago, and Philguy PM'd me about it's use with lasers. I'd have never have thought of that!
Well, I've done some tests:
1.) Reflectiveness - VERY good, only some absorbed, non passes through the liquid.
2.)...
Well...
I went to Liverpool University Open day last Thursday, and they gave us a tour around the Engineering department, and we happened to pass through the laser dept. :D :D :D
The guys there put on the usual balloon in a balloon tricks etc, but used a 10W laser to pop it!?!?!
Then they...
Hi!
I have a few questions about scanning and various other laser show related questions!
1.) What IS TTL? From what I've picked up, it can be used to turn the laser off on and off really quickly. Is this part of a feature of the laser or the driver? i.e. if I bought a cheapo DX labby laser...
Lol!
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10096
Not a bad price for a 100W green laser, genuine New Wish too!
Saying that though, I'd pay £42 for a 100mW one (which I'm sure they mean!)
I'm probably going to get one of these lab styles ones + a red one to make YELLOW!!! :-)
Dan :-)
Hi all,
I'm sure some have you have already seen this, but there is a new laser product from DX. It's a circuit board and a 70mW Red laser module, just add power!
I don't think it's any use for a torch mod, but may be useful for a lab laser to someone?!?
(I noticed yellow.sir.name posted in...
http://www.instructables.com/id/Blu-Ray-Laser-Phaser!/
DDL - get stocked up on your Blu-Ray diodes. ;D
I know he's using the circuit from the 'phaser' but I can't believe he's only used a resistor. :o It's DIY Red/Maglite all over again. :(
I guess this is good becuase of 'lasers to the...
Hi,
Just to let you know, I ordered my green true 30mW laser from DX 3 weeks ago, and it's been processing for all that time. I spoke to Kathy@DX yesterday, and she said she's sorry, and I could cancel or wait. I then told her I would wait, that is WHY I ordered in the first place! :D
She did...
Now I'm sorry if I've offend anyone, but don't you think we need a cool new logo?
I just don't get the whole grey-pixeled-script font....???
Perhaps something cool, like a good beam shot writing "Laser Pointer Forums" or a splash or red, green and blue lasers???
Just a thought though...
Hi,
After making a few lens adjusters on my CNC and posting a few out to people, I thought I might be able to make some more and sell them cheap for everyone.
I've made a new design, as some people requested, it's posted below. I can make them in nearly any colour, as the plastic supplier has...
Ok, I figured I would need a laser power meter, as it's alright me slapping a "200mW" title on my DIY red.
But they are really quite expensive for a decent one.
So, I scoured eBay, and this guy from Canada is selling Laser Power meter modules for $10 and up. They look like a glorifiyed LDR with...
